I am always on the lookout for more niches and resources to bring to my Virtual Assistant community and TPT is a new one I have just recently heard about! TPT stands for Teachers Pay Teachers, and is the largest marketplace where teachers can sell digital educational materials to other teachers to use in their classrooms. Think of it almost like an Etsy shop dedicated to selling resources to teachers.

This post shares What Does a TPT Virtual Assistant Do + Services to Offer

Teachers Pay Teachers is getting bigger, and so is the need for Virtual Assistant services. Online instructional technology marketplaces have changed how teachers share and sell resources. Many of these teachers are still teaching full time, meaning they have little precious time to invest in growing their side hustle. The great news for you, is that they need help managing their storefronts now more than ever. They also typically have hundreds of listings ranging from PreK-12 resources, middle school, all the way to high school science, that need to be updated and optimized consistently so they can continue to stand out and make sales. That’s where you come in!

Why Teachers Pay Teachers Sellers Need Virtual Assistants

TPT sellers have a lot to do, from making lesson plans to running their stores. Tasks like product creation, marketing, and customer service take up a lot of time. This leaves them with less time to focus on making comprehensive K–12 educational content. This also means that it is a perfect niche for you to focus on as a Virtual Assistant. Up until this point, I had never heard of TPT sellers, I believe it’s a niche that not many people know, and is probably under-saturated compared to most. Imagine if you could become the go to person for TPT!

How VAs Can Help TPT Sellers

Virtual assistants can help TPT sellers save time by taking care of a lot of different tasks like store management, optimizing product listings, sending weekly newsletters, creating product covers or graphics, managing their Pinterest accounts or blogs, etc.  This helps sellers take back their time so they can focus on creating new lesson plans and products like fun educational games.

Here are more services you could offer:

  • Providing customer service and support
  • Helping with product design and creation

You could decide to focus on serving TPT sellers with their Pinterest Management as an example. A niche, within a niche if you will. Or you can develop a few different well rounded service packages to promote to Teachers Pay Teachers sellers on a whole.

If you are like me and you have never heard of TPT before, you might be thinking, what kind of skills do I need to do this?

Glad you asked!

Skills and Qualifications

To be good at being a TPT virtual assistant, these are some of the skills that would be an asset to know.

  • Educational Background: You don’t need to have a background in education, but if you do have one it could be very helpful. It will help you connect with other TPT sellers, and understand their grade-specific content creation needs like 2nd grade math, 3rd grade ELA, or 8th grade ELA.
  • Technical Skills: You need to be familiar with cutting-edge technology and platforms like the latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Apple Safari to ensure an optimal experience when managing a seller’s store. Familiarity with Google Forms, Google Sheets, and email platforms is important for smooth workflow.
  • Product Creation and Design Support: You’ll also want to be familiar with the process of creating and designing digital products. There are certain steps to creating great digital products like knowing how to flatten a PDF to compress a file and save on space, or the fact that you should add a terms and conditions page to each download package.
    • Formatting and Layout Assistance: You can also serve as a second set of eyes to make sure that the products not only look great but are easy to use.
    • Error-Free Product Listings: You also want to proofread all material, since we are all human and make spelling mistakes, better to catch them early before the resources go out to users.
    • Marketing and Promotion Assistance: To succeed in the TPT market, sellers need good marketing. You can help with creating promotional materials, social media, and email marketing.

Subject-Specific VA Services for TPT Sellers

There are many different subjects on TPT. Knowing one of these subjects, like occupational therapy, vocational education, physical therapy, physical science, or history month themes, could help you stand out and allow you to help TPT sellers expand their community of educators.

You’ll also find listings for every level from 1st grade science to 10th grade and 7th grade ELA, giving you lots of opportunities to support sellers with grade-specific content.

Technical and Administrative Support: As a TPT virtual assistant, you’ll also help sellers manage their businesses better. Many also have blogs they maintain that are an accompaniment to their digital resources. That means you can also help with tasks like website updates, SEO, blog writing and scheduling.

Managing Pinterest for TPT Sellers: TPT sellers rely heavily on Pinterest marketing. This is a great niche for Pinterest Managers or VAs offering virtual assistant business services. You can help with content creation for pins, scheduling, and analyzing analytics.

Analyzing Data: Knowing how to analyze data is also crucial for TPT sellers. You can help analyze their sales data from the TPT dashboard, track customer engagement and reviews, analyze their Pinterest analytics, spot future trends they can take advantage of, and find ways to improve or opportunities to create new products.

How to Market Yourself to TPT Sellers

One of the best ways to meet TPT Sellers is to market your services via Facebook Groups. There are quite a few Facebook groups that will allow you to promote your services to sellers. I recommend that you join some of these groups, start networking with sellers, and provide value. Be visible, offer practical advice, and contribute helpful tips. These steps can help you land clients and build trust. Some of the best groups include:

You also have the option of researching and reaching out to TPT sellers directly from their platform. Some quick research can help you determine which current sellers might be in need of help, especially if they have multiple products listed in their storefront. Or perhaps needs additional help staying consistent with pinning on Pinterest. You can often tell a lot from a business owner just by doing a little digging.

If you are a Virtual Assistant looking for a new niche, specializing in TPT seller services might be the right move for you. As more educators turn to Teachers Pay Teachers to earn extra income or even replace their full-time jobs, the demand for skilled virtual assistants continues to rise.

If you’re creative, detail-oriented, and love supporting small business owners who are making a difference in education, becoming a TPT Virtual Assistant could be the perfect fit. And if you’re a TPT seller looking for reliable support, hiring a VA can be the game-changing move that allows you to scale your business with confidence.
